Michael Kerrigan offers an intimate look at real courage in the face of adversity. This book takes the reader into the personal character of 7 remarkable young men, who selflessly wanted to make a difference in the world and choose to do that by volunteering to fight in America's military. In their own words, we are given a glimpse of their past, taken into the day when they were traumatically injured, their memories, and the strength that allowed them to turn pain and fear into resolve and hope. These voices teach us about the legacy of honor, courage, and commitment - no matter the circumstances and hardship - and the healing power of love.
Read this book and allow their conduct and message to shape your character.
"Courage in America" provides an exceptional glimpse into the past, present, and future of seven remarkable American soldiers. Their firsthand accounts of tragedy and triumph serve as inspiration to all. Each warrior contributes a unique perspective of battle and recovery. The men handle tragedy with grace, humility, and even forgiveness. Their stories remind us that for our warriors, the war may not end when they return home. Indeed, the road to normality can be the most difficult part of the war experience. The warriors earn our respect and admiration as we learn how each responded to the call of duty and as we follow them from childhood to war-zone to recovery. This extraordinary book demonstrates the honor and determination of those that comprise our military.
This book is an inspiration to me. These are the true heroes. Want to know who is looking out for you, turn off the TV and read this book. The stories are amazing and written in their own hand. The will to rebuild their life after be torn apart and devastated is truly remarkable, My hat is off to these men and all who serve and to the wives and families who stand by them. This is a story of dedication, commitment and integrity. These are the type of men who should be running this country. They are integrity. I would like to thank these warriors for sharing their story with me. No words can properly describe my gratitude. I will never whine again about life's misfortunes. Thank you for showing me how to be a man.
As I buy another copy of "Warriors with Character" I have to make a plea to everyone to buy and read this book. You won't forget the message it brings you about courage in facing adversity. I predict that this book will provide you with an attitude towards your personal adversities that will make them easier to deal with. The non-fiction, tell it like is, courageous struggles of our military wounded will make you think seriously about how you can find a personal way to honor our military, in general, for the service to our country. You will shed a tear and have a smile as the "characters" tell you what makes them do what they do and how much they love their country and comrades.
The subject of "character" is mostly avoided by our media. Shame on them. Not only do you get an inspiring read with "Warriors with Character" but the author provides the path to studies (his blog) of what makes good character and additional stories of other warriors. The price of a movie gets you the paperback version with far more lasting personal attachment. The author has pledged the proceeds to go to organizations supporting our military men and women.
Read the book. You will want your family and friends to read it also.
Mike Kerrigan has truly unlocked the potential of growth in these 7 warriors. Each story is unique in so many ways yet connect. When you read the amazing experiences those men went through you are left speechless. Mike captures the story through the warrior's eyes. Everyone of them was able to tell their story in their own words. The men involved in this story were able to grow positively from their traumatic experience. Speaks highly of our current military and veteran communities. Please take the time to read this inspirational tale.
Author Michael Kerrigan has written a short book that is long on motivation and inspiration about seven American heroes who are profiled regarding their courageous service in the cause of freedom. The primary value and interest in this book relates to incredible stories of Americans who have suffered tremendously in service to our nation but,way and beyond these stories standing by themselves, is all the additional information about the challenges our people are facing in these conflicts in the recent years in these areas of operations. Would that there be no wars, but when there are, the subjects in this book are those who have stepped out to face the demons of warfare and have returned despite severe wounds to respond with incomparable bravery and resiliency. You really get to know them and it is hard to ever complain about aches and pains after reading this book.
